Timing Is Everything

Take advantage of your intrapersonally intelligent child's goal-oriented nature and take a look at what was expected of your child in the math realm during their last quarter of school and what lies ahead in the first quarter of the next school year. Make a summer action plan of how to tackle each of the concepts and the time that your child is willing to dedicate to math work each week and an associated reward for staying true to the time commitment. When the reward is received for the time commitment, see how closely the original time estimate for concept mastery is to the actual timeline and adjust the time commitment and/or timeline accordingly. Bonus! Working with time management skills in this way over the summer can be parlayed into homework/study planning in the Fall.
